CALL FOR ARTISTS
SIN LUGAR:
THE JOURNEY OF (NON) BELONGING
(Zine)Lugar is now accepting submissions for its inaugural issue, "Sin lugar: The journey of (non)belonging." We invite writers, poets, artists, and members of the global community to contribute creative pieces that seek to reshape the production of art and knowledge inside academia. We want to create a third space that includes everyone and anyone.
The sense of belonging is connected to the sense of identity, as they have a mutually influential bond. Moreover, both are shaped by time, geography and the communities around us so they are not fixed senses but are in constant movement, change and creation.
In this first issue, we are interested in exploring how marginalized or dissident voices, whether by race, class, gender or sexuality, relate to Latinidad. We seek to answer questions such as: How the feeling of (non)belonging is defined, and in what ways it impacts people's sense of self and relationships? What is the role of race or social class in the sense of belonging? What is the role of the body, gender, or sexuality in the sense of belonging? How do language, food, memory, and culture play a role in the sense of identity? Is non-belonging always a loss, and belonging a gain? What emotions, bonds, and sensations shape (non)belonging? How do you materialize the journey of (non)belonging?
We understand Latinidad as a broad spectrum that transcends legal documentation, ethnicity, race or physical borders. Latinidad might be understood as identities that are out of the margins, that share sentiments or emotions that might be an excess to the norm. So, we are open to receiving works from anyone that identifies or connects with the concept of Latinidad.
